Actroid DER2 is a feminine guide robot manufactured by Kokoro, a Sanrio group company specializing in the design and manufacture of robots. DER2 is the upgraded version of DER, who made quite a name for herself by providing services at number of events. The robot has been developed to recreate the human-like natural and charming expressions. It has news hooks and high eye-catching effects. It can be utilized to play active part for many occasions as a chairperson with fluent narrations. Actroid’s limbs, torso and facial expressions are controlled by a system of actuators powered by pneumatic pressures. Kokoro plans to rent Actroid DER2 to companies and events. The basic rental fee for a 5-day event is US$3,500 plus extra for technical support, delivery and choreography changes.
