Cutlass Robots to Replace Wheelbarrow for Bomb Disposal
The UK army has signed a £65 Million deal to acquire 80 new Cutlass robots. These hi-tech machines will replace the Wheelbarrow machines that are used for Bomb Disposal. The aging Wheelbarrow machines are in service since 1970s. These new Cutlass machines will provide an essential capability for those brave men and women who conduct the dangerous Bomb Disposal operations. The Cutlass Robot will be traveling on six wheels and will also be better powered than its predecessor. Moreover these Robots will also be equipped with better tires and suspension systems so that they can be used in every terrain. It also has a manipulator arm that can be controlled by a joystick. So the personnel involved in the operation can ensure that they remain safe during the entire operation. These new machines are also equipped with various night and day imaging systems so that they can be used at any time of the day. The Ministry of Defense will be buying 80 of these machines and will be introduced in phases so that the wheelbarrow machines can totally be replaced by the end of the decade.
