iRobot to release new technology for simultaneous control of multiple semi-autonomous robots
Finally iRobot has unveiled their new project, funded by the U.S. Army’s Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) program and code named Sentinel, featuring intelligent navigation capabilities that facilitate the robots to reach a predetermined target without any help or interference from an operator, prevailing over obstacles and other challenges along the way. The new networked technology will allow simultaneously control and coordinate multiple semi-autonomous robots by single operator through touch-screen computer. War fighters and first responders will be able to exercise teams, such as iRobot PackBot, which will allow robots to accomplish surveillance and mapping, means no risk and effortless inspection of intimidating surroundings.
