Manoi AT01 may sneak through the much more sophisticated robotics wizardry. This easy to assemble robot is from Tokyo-based Kyosho.
The $1,260 machine, which can walk, wave its arms and do other simple moves, comes in a kit that requires assembly — a sprawling, mind-boggling concoction of matchbox-size motors, plastic Lego-like parts, twisted wiring, 200 tiny screws and a 100-page manual.
The Android meant for your living room can be an utterly splendid experience of constructing a robot that can learn and repeat moves once programmed. Manoi functions through a microprocessor brain - joints and muscles are work of motors and screws. The battery-supported robot connects to a computer through a computer’s USB port so that the moves of each motor can be set by dragging a bar-graph on Manoi’s software that runs only on computers running Windows operating system.
Following this course Manoi can perform more amazing feat, such as jumping, picking itself up from its back and can even perform gymnastics.
