Spider leg spines to make robots better crawlers

US researchers want to make use of the leg spines of spiders and other insects to make robots better scramblers. Researchers found out that such modified robots could easily cross a wire net that is made to hold them back. The research can be helpful in developing the next generation of rescue robots that require covering complex ground. Insects are able to transfer their weight from one leg to another so they don’t fall on the ground. Similarly robots can also make use of one of the many legs to transfer their weight in case they are stuck anywhere.
